Paja was a 17 year old girl whose life was changed at the perfect time. God did an amazing work in her life right before calling her home to be with Himself. Two years ago she heard from a friend about our summer camps program and so she came for a week of camp in the Czech Republic. During the course of the week the power of Gospel transformed her and she accepted the Lord as her Savior. She had come from an unbelieving Catholic background. In fact you could say that she had a deep hatred toward Christianity.
After trusting the Lord her entire life was transformed by God. She started visiting church and was seriously excited about her new life in Christ. She had such a vibrancy for her new Savior and Lord. But just a few weeks later she had to go to the hospital for treatment and it was then that the doctors discovered that she had contracted cancer. She could have blamed God, she could have doubted and questioned her new faith but instead she chose to trust Him completely. She chose to believe that God was in control and turned to the church and other Christians to pray for her health and her new faith.
She began to read her Bible and going to God in prayer regularly. At one point Pája started to get better and it seemed she was healthy again. At the time it seemed God was going to do a new kind of miracle in her but just a few months later the cancer returned. The following summer she visited the camp where her life was changed and again it seemed that Pája might win her bought with cancer. However, that August her outlook took a turn for the worst and she eventually lost her battle with cancer.
The believers around her during this entire ordeal were encouraged and strengthened by her faith throughout the entire process of God calling her home. Each year thousands of students come through our camps throughout the world and we never know what their future will hold. We assume they have years of a healthy and active life ahead of them but only God knows what is in store for each of them. We praise God that no matter what the future holds for each student He chooses to use the ministry of Word of Life to change their eternal state forever. At the end of the day it is the life after this life, not the one here, that really matters for eternity. We praise God for what He did in Pája, calling her to Himself before she was ushered into eternity. You can pray for Pája’s family and the church she was a part of as they mourn her loss yet praise God for the change He brought to her short life.
