Silva’s Journey

I and my family came to the USA during WWII when I was 8 years old. When I was a teen I lived in N.Y. and had three girl friends of three different faiths, so I wanted to know which one was the true religion. A few years later I moved to Chicago, and a friend invited me to go to church with her. So, finally, I did go with my new friend to the Christian & Missionary Alliance church where I actually heard preaching from the Bible.  Then after attending there for about 3 months, she called me to listen to a preacher on the radio. Since it was a Saturday & I was not at work, I laid down on my bunk and listened to this preacher.  It was Jack Wyrtzen and he said why not receive the Lord Jesus and have him forgive you of your sins and be sure of going to heaven.  I said my first prayer ever in my life,”Lord, I want to be a Christian”. Wow, the clouds opened up and I had such PEACE and joy!! The next day I shared it with Pastor Murdock and he gave me my first Bible. Even a week later, when I had to have minor surgery, my roommate said “aren’t you afraid that if you died no one is there to hold your hand?”  I said I would be with Jesus!!  That is the assurance the Lord gave me as a very new Christian.  I could go on and on but just have to say that my life was completely changed and the Lord has led me these 53 years.  I met my husband at the C&MA Church and have been married for 52 years and have two children and 6 grandchildren. I am very grateful for your ministry.
